Sally Powers Pelling passed away June 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Sally, 72, was born in 1951 and attended Streator High School, where she was the cheerleader captain and homecoming queen.
She was cheerleader captain at Northwestern University and MVP of the swim team. Sally was an Illinois state diving champ and ranked ninth nationally.
She was an avid tennis and golf player and enjoyed her time at Ruth Lake Country Club, Hinsdale Golf Club, and Island Country Club in Marco Island, Fla.
Sally was an accomplished real estate broker for 30 years, was a friend to all and brightened the room with her smile.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. George Powers, Jr. and Weeta Powers; and her sister, Betty Powers.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John B. Pelling, Jr.; her children, John (Erin) Pelling, Chris (Beth) Pelling, Brian (Lori) Pelling, and Katy (Brian) LaCrosse; her grandchildren, Burton, Bear, Georgie, Addy, Josh, Emmy, Charlie, Mia, Ashley, Layne and Ally; and her siblings, Ron (Marianne) Powers and Kathy (Don) Fox.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today, June 13, at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St., Willowbrook. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 306 W. Fourth St. Hinsdale.
