Police officers sworn in to boost village force

The Hinsdale Police Department recently welcomed two new officers to its ranks.

Officers Sergio Briones and Ian Simpson are the latest to wear the village badge after being sworn in by Village President Tom Cauley at the June 11 village board meeting.

Briones was born and raised in the northwest suburbs and graduated from Aurora University with a bachelor's degree in criminal Justice and an MBA in sport management. He is bilingual with fluency in Spanish and is a recent graduate of the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy.

Simpson is a native of the southwest suburbs and graduated from Lewis University in Romeoville with a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in criminal justice. Simpson previously worked as a security officer for Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park and also recently graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy.

Police Chief Brian King said the arrivals of Briones and Simpson will help bolster the department.

"We are currently are in a hiring process. We have 24 officers and are staffed for 25," King said.
