Residents can apply now to be part of the 2024 Hinsdale Citizen Police Academy, which starts Sept. 4.

The free program is designed to give residents and citizens working in Hinsdale a better understanding of law enforcement and the Hinsdale Police Department.
Each week provides an in-depth view of different topics, including specialties and departments within the department. This course also provides citizens with an understanding of modern police procedures and an inside look at the challenges officers face while serving the community.
The course will include classroom instruction, interactive discussions and hands-on practical exercises with a focus on various aspects of police work. Course topics include investigations, forensics, traffic stops, training, specialty teams, critical incidents, law and more.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must live or work within the Village of Hinsdale. All applicants must complete and return an application, waiver and photo release form. The Hinsdale Police Department reserves the right to exclude any applicant from consideration or participation.
