As the Central Tri-State project continues, residents of southeast Hinsdale have had little or no noise protection from the 300,000 cars a day that traveled along Hinsdale's eastern border since February. Crews are now working on replacing the old noise wall with a new wall that adheres to or surpasses the Federal Highway Administration guidelines. Tollway authorities said the height of the new walls will be equal to or greater than the current walls. Crews in the photo were working just north of 55th Street, while other crews were also working on the wall in different places in town. The $4 billion widening project from Balmoral Avenue to 95th Street is scheduled to be completed in 2026. (Jim Slonoff photo)
