Hinsdale Falcons

9U SILVER loses by touchdown

In a tightly contested battle, the Tri City Green team edged out the Hinsdale Falcons 9U Silver with a 6-0 victory.

From the opening whistle, it was evident that both teams were prepared for a defensive showdown. The field was a battleground of relentless tackles, strategic plays and resilient defenses.

The Tri City Green team managed to break the deadlock with a single touchdown in the third quarter, proving to be the game’s only score. Their defense was impenetrable, keeping the Falcons from finding the end zone despite their best efforts. The Green team’s defensive line and secondary exhibited impressive teamwork, shutting down the Falcons’ offensive drives and turning away several promising plays.

On the other side, the Falcons’ defense was equally formidable. They consistently thwarted Tri City’s attempts to expand their lead, showcasing their own tenacity and skill. Despite the Falcons’ numerous efforts to break through, they were met with a well-organized and aggressive defense.

As the game approached its final moments, the Falcons mounted a last-ditch effort to force overtime. They executed a series of plays with urgency and precision, pushing downfield in a desperate bid to score. However, the clock was not on their side. With time expiring, their final push was halted short of the end zone, and the Tri City Green team held on to secure the 6-0 win.

10U SILVER TEAM ADVANCES TO 2-0

The 10U Silver Falcons hosted the Elmhurst Eagles this past Sunday at Hinsdale Central and cruised to their second straight victory.

They got two touchdown runs from Henry McMahon and a pick 6 interceptions from Clay Parker and that was all they would need for a final Score of 20-0.

Arya Vafa, Mike Sandberg and Bennett Brumley were leaders on the offensive line, opening holes all game and protecting quarterback Caden Mitchell.

The Falcons’ defense was stalwart. The D Line led by Jack Slavik, Dean Windfelder, Mile Wos and Mark Sandberg was smothering and gave the Elmhurst offense absolutely nothing. The linebacker core — Brody Sobieraj, Grant Garber, Max Breton and Paul Voight — ran down plays sideline to sideline. Defensive backs Kanas Zitkevicius and Massimo Buttita were quick to come up and support the run and allowed zero completions on the day.

The 2-0 10U Silver Falcons take on the always tough Bloomingdale Bears this weekend in Bloomingdale, where they hope to keep this early season momentum rolling.

11 U SILVER TEAM WINS HOME OPENER

Hinsdale 11U Silver with a commanding 22- 2 victory in their home opener against Oswego.

It was another crisp performance for the Falcons’ offense as they raced to a big lead. Once again, the offensive line was paving lanes for the talented Falcons backs — Jacob Zager, Jack O’Malley, Danny McFarland and Killian Byrne — to run through. Byrne scored his first touchdown of the season. The talented offensive line is led by Keegon McCoskey, Parker Otzen, Luke Hanson, Luke Gray and Hayden Sobieraj, and they seem to get better as the game goes on.

For the second week in a row the defense was keeping pace with the offense by only allowing a late safety as time was expiring. The D-line, made up of Carter Cox, Nico Will, Joey Hillegas, Grant Garver and Pierson Eno, clogged the running lanes all game long, which allowed for linebackers Jacob Zager, Marco Oliverio, Jack O’Malley and Noah Vargas to make tackles free of any blockers. When Oswego went to the passing game, the Falcons were equal to the task. Miles Lindenmeyer and Will each got his first interception of the year. The other defensive backs, Sawyer Myhra, Will Rooney, and Leo Solorio, prevented any completions, helping preserve the defensive masterpiece.

Next up: Naperville at home on Saturday at 1 p.m.

11U GOLD FALLS IN HEARtBREAKER

In a closely contested battle on Sunday, 11U Gold suffered a heartbreaking 14-12 loss to Glen Ellyn.

The Falcons fought valiantly, with their running backs leading the charge. Teddy Ouimette, Luca Striltschuk and Nate Thangamani consistently moved the ball downfield throughout the game. Kellen Brown capitalized on their efforts, scoring both of the team’s touchdowns, aided by key downfield blocks from Keerthan Tucke and Owen Parry.

The running backs’ impressive performance was bolstered by a physical offensive line. Grant Omiecinski, Matthew Kalish, Ivan Burt, Harrison Kuzniar and Mikey Adamo anchored the line, consistently creating opportunities with their key blocks.

The game was a defensive battle from the outset, with the Falcons making big plays to keep the score tight. The defense, led by Luke Schremser, Christian Gernont, Rohn Ramani, Marcello Salamone, Joshua Castro and Soren Carlson, shined throughout, making crucial tackles and holding the Eagles’ offense at bay for much of the contest. Their efforts gave the offense chances to take the lead.

In the final minute, the Falcons had one last chance to secure a comeback, but Ben Murphy’s long pass to Bo Cuculich fell just short, sealing the 14-12 loss.

The Falcons will look to regroup and bounce back in their next game against Carol Stream.

JV GOLD D1 CRUSH PALATINE

The JV Gold Falcons started their season with a monster effort in all three phases, beating Palatine 30-6. The Falcons looked to be in mid-season form, taking control early and never looking back. Even the coaching staff looked playoff-ready with elite gear.

The Falcon offense picked up where it left off last season starting with a Michael Kipnis 35-yard touchdown run to start the scoring. Kellan Goodwin caught the extra point from Dillon Phelan, making it 8-0 Falcons.

Not to be left out of the fun, the Falcon defense started their season with a three and out. Hinsdale took possession and the big offensive line — Ben Kurinsky, Torsten Wood, Connor Gaylord, Grant Wanless, Oliver Johnson and Sal Calandriello — quickly sprang Phelan free for a 60-yard touchdown scamper. Jaxon Uthe forced a fumble on the ensuing possession leading to another Kipnis score, this one from 45 yards. Angel Roman hauled in the extra point to make it 22-0 Falcons. Phelan found the endzone once again from 15 yards and hit Logan Sullivan for the extra point to bring the score to 30-0 at halftime.

While not getting in on the scoring, Grant Kirchheimer ran for 90 yards on 11 carries. The Falcons called off the attack in the second half and let the defense continue their incredible effort, creating more turnovers courtesy of big hits from Charlie Lynch, Dominic Cresap, Brock Bradley and Sullivan Camp. The Falcons forced three turnovers while only ceding three first downs.

JV GOLD D2 WORKS FOR WIN

JV D2 had a hard fought win this week, 8-0, in a low scoring matchup with Oak Park-River Forest.

Grayson Danek led the team in rushing with more than 100 yards of offense and a touchdown, with Brady Madden connecting with Leo Yanklowitz on a perfect pass for a 2-point conversion.

Alex Vivanco led the Falcons on defense with multiple sacks and tackles for a loss. OPRF was driving at the end of the fourth quarter, but Nicholas Carbonara picked off a pass to seal the win for the Falcons.

VARSITY SILVER winS HOME OPENER

Varsity Silver played excellent defense and dominated special teams in their 24-0 home opener win against Glen Ellyn.

Kicker Felix Michelini opened the game with a huge boot and the Falcons kick-off coverage pinned Glen Ellyn inside their own 5 yard line. After a three and out, Michael Garber returned the ensuing punt for a touchdown.

The dominant defensive tone was set early and Glen Ellyn managed ONLY two first downs the entire game. The Falcons’ defense was led by Cole Prasse with three tackles for a loss, and Michelini came up with two quarterback sacks. Benji Allanson broke up several pass attempts from his safety position.

Starting quarterback Nick Ludden made a dazzling run early, but came out with an injury. Jake Knapp filled in admirably, including a 20-yard touchdown run with numerous broken tackles. Garber also scored on a 1-yard run with help from a great combination block by Noah Natarelli. All Falcons TDs were followed by extra points by Michelini.

The Falcons are on the road next week against an undefeated Bartlett squad.

VARSITY GOLD FALLS TO EAGLES

The Varsity Gold Falcons visited Glen Ellyn for their second contest of the season.

Glen Ellyn started the game with a long drive. Despite the tackling efforts of linebackers Hank Scheri, Max Milburn, Luke Altemose, Jack Gray and Blake Schnur, the Eagles moved downfield all of the first quarter, resulting in a touchdown from quarterback Jimmy Allen.

Quarterback Keaton Cassell led the Falcon offense, efficiently distributing passes to his receivers, Matthew Stone, Grant Goodwin and Bear Kumskis, but a few penalties and execution mishaps kept the Falcons out of the endzone in the first half.

The Eagles came out with the halfback pass, setting up their second score. Chasing 12, the Falcons quickly answered. A key block from Stone helped spring the 50-yard Goodwin catch and run for 6.

The remainder of the game was a battle. Eagle defensive tackle Kim Johnson applied the pressure. However, Cassell avoided sacks and tacklers during many impressive runs and scrambles. Good blocks from tight end Knox Apple, right tackle Will Smith and Stone helped the Falcons produce positive plays.

Ultimately, the Falcons could not convert and would finish the game 12-6.
