Sally Lynn Sylvester, 77, of Hinsdale, a woman of remarkable strength and wisdom, passed away peacefully Sept. 23, 2024, in Downers Grove.
She was a rock for her family, providing support, guidance and love throughout her life. Her sharp intelligence and deep compassion made her a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. A true nurturer, Sally had a special bond with animals and children, always offering a caring hand and a kind heart. Her impact on the community was profound, helping more than 100 young people achieve their Eagle Scout rank, guiding them with patience and dedication. Her commitment was a reflection of her generous spirit and belief in the potential of others.
Sally was an exemplary human being, a fine addition to this world and a woman who made it a better place. Words can’t fully express how deeply she will be missed.
She is survived by her children, Michael Sylvester and Jennifer Sylvester; her four grandchildren, Ben Sylvester, Jack Sylvester, Jamie Sylvester and Elena Sylvester; and her brothers, Jamie “Jim” Ellison and Carl Ellison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Jean Ellison; and her brother, William “Billy” Ellison.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale.
Eagle Scouts are invited to sign a board at the visitation in honor of Sally’s support for scouting and youth development.
