O'BYRNE NAMED TOP VOLUNTEER

Susan O'Byrne of Hinsdale received the Katharine Van Dusen Sylvester Service/Volunteer of the Year award from The Community House at the organization's Stewardship Society Reception Sept. 12.

O'Byrne has been a Community House player since 2011 and became a Community Revue producer in 2017. She performed in "A Christmas Carol" for two years at The Community House, playing the role of Ms. Cratchit, and has taught Shakespeare Sessions through the LyArts program.

Growing up in Hinsdale, O'Byrne took ballet classes at The Community House in 1972 and participated in Fortnightly.

"I am so honored to receive the Volunteer of the Year award, and I share it with the cast and crew of The Community Revue," O'Byrne said. "The show would be nothing without them and the citizens of Hinsdale."

Chairman's term ends ON board

The DuPage Foundation celebrated its many community volunteer leaders during a special reception Sept. 19, including retiring board Chairman Nate Wasson of Hinsdale.

"I'm extremely appreciative of all that our board and committee members do to advance our work and wish to personally thank Nate Wasson for his leadership these past three years," said Mike Sitrick, DuPage Foundation president and CEO. "He's got an outstanding successor in Bill Blum and I'm confident that we'll continue our trend of increasing our impact under his tenure."

"Nate's advocacy for community giving and leadership on numerous foundation initiatives has been invaluable to the foundation's consistent growth and increased impact," Blum said. "I'm determined to continue the Foundation's trajectory of success moving forward."

Wasson said he found his time on the board rewarding.

"I've grown personally and professionally as a member of this passionate, community-focused and generous group of volunteers and am deeply proud of what we've accomplished together for our community with our donors and partners," Wasson said. "We have a tremendous new class of trustees joining us, and I'm excited to see them continue our important work."
