Brooks Jaqua got things going on the Falcons’ first offensive series when quarterback Connor Pauley connected with him on a 22-yard touchdown strike. Pauley also connected with Noah Jones for a 35-yard touchdown and Bryce Lee for a 30-yard touchdown on the Falcons’ following two possessions. This unit was led by Michael Dombroski, Wyland Holmes, Cade Phelan and Parker Brey, who forced multiple turnovers and had many tackles for loss.

10U SILVER HOLD TRI CITY TO ONE TD

The 10U Silver Falcons took to Dickinson Field at Hinsdale Central against a team from Tri City Sunday and played their best game of the season.

They got started fast when Clay Parker ran the opening kickoff back 74 yards for the game’s first score. Brody Sobieraj led the Falcon running attack with tough run after tough run, carrying the ball 14 times for 123 yards. His last run of the day was a 65-yard touchdown run that saw him diving into the endzone to put the game away. Sobieraj owed the day’s success to the hard work of Paul Voight, Mike Sandberg, Miles Post, Max Breton, Arya Vafa and Dean Windfelder, who opened holes for him all day long. Quarterback Caden Mitchell found tight end Mark Sandberg twice from 5 yards out and again from 9 yards out for two passing touchdowns on the day.

The Falcons’ defense gave up an uncharacteristic big play early when the Tri City quarterback rolled right, found the edge and scampered 70 yards for a touchdown. From that point on, the defense would clamp down and not give up another point. Defensive backs Kanas Kitzevicius and Grant Garber shut down the outside runs and safety Massimo Buttita owned the highlight of the day, stripping the ball from a Tri City ball carrier and running it back 70 yards for a touchdown. The defensive line of Jack Slavik, Bennett Brumley and Mark Sandberg got after the quarterback all day, with Sandberg’s racking up three sacks.

The game would finish 33-7 in favor of the Falcons. The boys from Hinsdale have improved to 5-0-1 on the season and now travel to Lemont Sunday to take on the undefeated Hornets.

11U FALCONS WIN ON THE ROAD

The 11U Falcons passed a big test Sunday by beating a 4-1 Park Ridge team on the road.

The Falcons took down Park Ridge 23-14 behind solid second-half defense and an efficient ball control offense. It’s been a couple weeks running now that the offensive line has set the tone for the game by controlling the line of scrimmage. Hayden Sobieraj, Parker Otzen, Luke Hanson, Luke Gray, Keegon McCoskey and Nico Will have been paving the way for the running backs to get plenty of yards on the ground. If they were not making holes for the backs to run through, they were providing ample time for the quarterback to throw the ball.

Park Ridge threw for two scores in the first half but was held scoreless in the second half. The Falcons tightened up their pass defense, forcing the Park Ridge quarterback to hold the ball longer than he wanted to and leading to second-half sacks by Luke Gray and Jacob Zager. The tough Falcon defense forced a couple of second half punts and didn’t allow a point in the final two quarters.

The Falcon’s running game was efficient all game long and proved to be a big part in the victory. Two first half scores by Danny McFarland paced the scoring for the Falcons. First downs late in the fourth quarter by Sawyer Myhra and Jack O’Malley ultimately broke the will of Park Ridge team, securing the victory.

11U Gold Dominates

The 11 Gold team continued its dominant run with a 26-0 victory, overpowering Plainfield from the opening play.

Teddy Ouimette set the tone early, taking the opening kickoff 65 yards for a dazzling touchdown. The Falcons’ offense followed up with relentless efficiency, scoring on their next two offensive series.

Kellen Brown broke loose for a 40-yard touchdown run, aided by key blocks from Mikey Adamo, Joshua Castro, and Grant Omiecinski.

The offensive line played a pivotal role in the Falcons’ success, with Luke Schremser scoring two long touchdowns, including one through a massive hole created by Matthew Kalish, Soren Carlson and Bo Cuculich. Luca Striltschuk capped off the scoring, kicking the extra point through the uprights.

Quarterback Rohn Ramani orchestrated the final scoring drive, connecting with Carlson on a nice sideline pass to keep the chains moving. Nifty runs from Nate Thangamani and Marcello Salamone, who broke multiple tackles, set up the final score for Schremser.

On defense, the Falcons were just as dominant, with Christian Gernot and Christian Kirchev wreaking havoc in the backfield all game. Ivan Burt and Owen Parry applied pressure up front, while Ben Murphy and Keerthan Tucke made countless tackles on the outside. The defense forced multiple fumbles and didn’t allow a single first down all afternoon.

With this victory the Falcons 11U Gold improves to 5-1 and prepares for the next challenge, at home against Oak Park on Saturday afternoon.

JV Gold D1 Rolls On

The JV Gold Falcons remained perfect at 5-0 after a thorough 32-8 victory over Plainfield. The Falcons have developed in all three phases with an overall aggressiveness that their competition struggle to match.

The Hinsdale offense showed big play capability with three of their four touchdowns coming from at least 45 yards. Dillon Phelan, behind his bulldozing front (Sullivan Camp, Sal Calandriello, Brock Bradley, Grant Wanless, Oliver Johnson and Ben Kurinsky), got the Falcon party started with a 50-yard run to paydirt. A Kellan Goodwin catch made it 8-0. The Falcon defense got a quick stop and the offense made quick work. Michael Kipnis added his stamp to the run game with a 45-yard dash. Charlie Lynch hit Phelan for the conversion; Hinsdale led 16-0 at the end for the first.

The defense had some fun with a thunderous Angel Roman sack and a Torsten Wood suplex takedown. Both players had monster performances.

Phelan once again found the endzone with 48-yard run to make it 24-8. The Falcon scoring was capped by a Phelan throw to an acrobatic Logan Sullivan, who leapt through two defenders to make the catch in the endzone. The Hinsdale defense stifled any Plainfield comeback with continuous pressure from Connor Gaylord, Grant Kirchheimer. Lynch and Leo Crooks. Jaxon Uthe, Dominic Cresap, Kipnis and Goodwin strapped up the Plainfield passing attack.

Despite the convincing win, the Falcons know the intensity level needs go up as the defending champion Tri-City Chargers come to town next week.

VARSITY SILVER earns shut out

Varsity Silver set the tone early in a 14-0 win at Bloomingdale. Felix Michelini booted the opening kickoff and Jake Knapp forced a fumble on the return, which was recovered by Clayton Tims. On the Falcons’ first play from scrimmage, Michael Garber ran around the right side for a 15-yard touchdown. After a goal line stand by the Falcons, Knapp capped a long drive with a 7 yard quarterback keeper for the second score of the day. Michelini knocked the extra point through the uprights to make is 14-0.

The rest of the game was a defensive battle, although the Falcons continued to dominate the line of scrimmage, led by Ben McLaughlin, Noah Natarelli, Leo Rivera, Chase Hellenga, Brit Read and Bryce Kinder. The Falcons sealed the win with a methodical drive that took up nearly the entire fourth quarter, highlighted by a key third-down completion from Knapp to Benji Allanson. The Falcons’ defense was stout the entire day, with linebackers Ali Memon, Jake Carney, and Tims making numerous tackles. Nose tackles Michelini and Lino Hernandez were especially strong in the middle of Falcons defensive line.
