Hinsdale firefighter/paramedics Mike Lorusso and James Lauber extinguish the flames in the fire demonstration rooms during the annual Fire and Police open house Saturday. This year, much like many Hinsdaleans, the fire department built an addition. It expanded their demonstration rooms to show the difference it makes in a house fire if the bedroom door is closed. "Close before you dose" was the theme of the program, and the proof was in the fire as it spread quickly when the door was open and not at all when the door was closed.
