Un Ja "Grace" Chae, 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Hinsdale, died Sept. 8, 2024.
Grace came to the U.S. from Seoul, Korea, in 1970 with her husband, John. Together they owned and operated several photography and dry cleaning businesses. Grace was faithful to her church. She published several books and loved writing poetry, oil painting and gardening.
Grace was a resident of Westmont before she and her husband moved to Lindale, Texas.
She is survived by her sister, Mee Soon Yoo; her brother, Boo Ell "James" Bae (Hanna Young); her children, Soo Un (Gil Young), David (Karen), Soo Yul (Nancy), Zani (Jeff Cerny) of Hinsdale and Susan (Joe Corcoran) of Hinsdale; her grandchildren, Samuel (Beth Chung), Daniel (Jodi), Sarah (Zechariah Chiang), Abraham (Mandy), Johnny (Traci), Abigail, Ruth, Alison (David Shekman), Austin, Adam, Jacob, Halie and Ryan; and her great-grandchildren, Weston, Claire, Hallie, McKenna, Everly, Haddon, Ahava, Ellie and Micah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2021.
A private service will be held Oct. 19 at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Elmhurst.
