Erik T. Carlson, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Oct. 19, 2024.
Erik, 48, was born in 1976 and graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 1994.
He was a multi-talented but shy man whose professional roles included Comcast producer/editor, DJ at Chicago clubs and Google product lead. His production team held a screening of their short comedy at Chicago's Music Box Theater.
He was a fan of all genres of film and video, especially artistic films and animation. His love of all things creative included an extensive collection of current and vintage videos, graphic novels and comic books.
Erik was a big man with an even bigger heart that loved animals. He volunteered at an animal shelter, walked dogs, adopted two strays, Link and Bear, and co-fostered rescued kittens with his sister, Lisa. His sudden passing leaves a big hole in all in his family members' hearts, which will take a long time to heal.
Erik is survived by his mother, Marta Carlson of Hinsdale; his sister, Lisa Carlson; and his father, Ken Carlson.
A celebration of Erik's life will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago.
