Joyce Moucka Knuepfer, nee Nebergall, a former longtime Hinsdale resident, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 2024, in Elmhurst.
Joyce, 98, was born in 1926 in McCook, Neb., and grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb., with her parents, Floyd and Gertrude, and siblings, Vernon, Kay and Karen. She graduated from Benson High School and the University of Nebraska, where she met her husband, Bob Moucka.
A talented artist, Joyce's paintings adorn many homes throughout the area. Her art brought beauty and joy to those around her and her creativity extended to every part of her life.
In addition to her passion for art, Joyce enjoyed golf, bridge and reading, and loved to play Rummikub (which she called "tiles") with anyone who was willing to join her.
Joyce was a woman of profound faith in Jesus Christ and a long-time member of Christ Church of Oak Brook. Her faith was truly her foundation, a daily discipline of trusting. Her indomitable spirit, good humor and positive attitude were contagious. Among her family and friends she was known for her sense of humor, particularly her knack for telling stories - many of which were filled with laughter at her own expense.
Those who knew Joyce will remember her for her enduring love of family, her marvelous creativity and her unshakable faith. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family and faith.
She was preceded in death by her son, John; and her two husbands, Bob Moucka and Bob Knuepfer.
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Bonnie), Tom (Debbie) and Bill (Donna); her eight grandchildren; and her 11 great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held for family in Omaha.
