CONFERENCE TITLE

The Hinsdale Middle School seventh-grade girls basketball team has clinched the West Suburban Middle School Athletic Conference Championship title.

In a thrilling final match against Elmhurst’s Bryan Middle School, the talented young athletes secured a hard-fought 29-26 victory. This impressive win capped off an extraordinary season with a remarkable 14-1 record.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Coach Kelly Pelak and the entire team for their dedication, hard work, and outstanding sportsmanship,” district officials said. “Your achievement is a testament to your skill and perseverance.”

SOFTBALL PLAYERS

The Hinsdale Central girls basketball team is hosting Girls Softball Night at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in Central’s main gym, 55th and Grant streets.

The success of elementary and middle school softball players involved with Lady Devils and Clarendon Hills Softball Little League programs will be recognized at half-time during the Red Devils’ game against Proviso West.

CENTRAL PLANS

HOLIDAY CLASSIC

The Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic boys basketball tournament is set for Dec. 26-30 at the high school.

Sixteen teams are participating in the tournament — Brother Rice, Burlington Central, Hinsdale Central, Lane Tech, Maine South, Marian Catholic, Morgan Park, Morton, Niles North, Oswego East, Plainfield East, Rockford Auburn, Schaumburg, Saint Charles East, Saint Rita and Wheaton Academy.

All 16 teams will play four games, with each team playing one game each day. A full championship and consolation bracket will be played. Visit http://www.hcholidayclassic.com to view brackets.

Team trophies will be presented to all Final Four teams and to the winning team of the consolation championship and fifth place games.

Admission for a single day (eight total games) is $8. A tournament pass good for all 32 games costs $25. Tickets will be available at the ticket window during the event and can be purchased digitally through the event via GoFan.
