Katherine Choe
Hinsdale
Why did you join bowling this year?
I kind of just decided to join off of a whim to have something to do during her winter. It's been really fun.
What do you enjoy most about it?
I really enjoyed meeting all the new people, and there's a bunch of seniors, but there's also a bunch of underclassmen, so it's been fun to get to know all these kids I never would have gotten to talk to.
What is most challenging for you?
Probably the footwork. I feel like I was pretty unathletic at the beginning of the season trying to throw the ball. I feel like I've been slowly getting better. It's on and off.
Do you have any pre-meet rituals?
We have a cheer that we do before every game and in the beginning it was pretty rough. We were really out of sync. On Saturday we had a tournament and we finally said it all together.
What is the best advice you've gotten from a coach?
Coach Parpet, he has this saying, the first letters in school that you learn are your ABCs. Those stand for "Always Be Classy." You have to always be classy with everything you do.
What is your goal for the season?
I actually just got a 150. My goal was to get a 150. I would say I met it! So just continue to improve.
Any tips for recreational bowlers?
Just keep trying and don't get frustrated with yourself. Have fun and make sure you're laughing.
What are your plans for next year?
I actually just got accepted to University of Denver. I'm really excited. My uncle lives out there, so I'll get to see him more often. And there are mountains. I want to major in art history.
What are you looking forward to at Christmas?
I'm excited to hang out with my grandma because I haven't seen her in a while. We're going to a trivia night at my uncle's on Christmas Eve. I hope I win that. Usually he has pretty good prizes.
Why does coach Paul Parpet like having Choe on the team?
Katherine is a class young lady. She is a great teammate and works very hard on improving her bowling skills. Her positive attitude makes her such an awesome person to be around.
